Jay Leno 1016 Industries McLaren 720S Carbon Fiber Body Kit
Jay Leno is no stranger to supercars, and 1016 Industries McLaren 720S is the latest one he was fortunate enough to be behind the wheel of. 1016 Industries CEO Peter Northrop specializes in making body kits for supercars, like the McLaren 720S, with 3d-printing technologies, including this full exposed carbon fiber show car.

This carbon fiber body kit helped the 720S shed around 400-pounds of weight, which means that the factory twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine making 710 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque is more than enough for both the streets as well as track. The supercar is also 120mm wider than the factory car, complete with a fixed rear wing spoiler and a large roof scoop.

Our focus for this project was exploring how we could employ 3-D printing in the automotive world, and the results creating these McLaren 720S parts are impressive. The 3-D printing process has not only allowed us to manufacture faster and more efficiently, but we’ve also improved quality,” said Peter Northrop, 1016 Industries CEO.
