Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos not only unveiled Blue Origin’s lunar lander last week, but also his plan for space colonization. His idea is based on the concept by physicist Gerard O’Neill, or ring worlds that large enough for entire cities, agricultural areas, attractions, and national parks in outer space. Each one of these self-sustaining habitats could house ‘a million people or more’ and would have the ‘ideal climate’ at all times, ‘like Maui on its best day, all year long,’ said Bezos. “We get to choose, do we want stasis and rationing, or do we want dynamism and growth? This is an easy choice. We know what, we want we just have to get busy. If we’re out in the solar system, we can have a trillion humans in the solar system – which means we’d have thousands Mozarts and a thousand Einsteins. This would be an incredible civilization. These are very large structures, miles on end, and they hold a million people or more each,” said Bezos.
