Lexus has been cooking up something big since the GR GT3 Concept turned heads in 2022. That sleek, mean machine hinted at two paths: a race car to follow the RC F GT3 and a road-going supercar to pick up where the LFA left off.
At Goodwood, both versions tore up the hillclimb, camo’d but stealing the show. The road car, likely the LFR, is gunning for giants like the Ferrari 296 GTB, Lamborghini Temerario and McLaren’s next big thing. Under the bonnet a big V8, almost certainly turbocharged and paired with an electric motor for hybrid boost, powers this beast. Lexus is keeping the numbers under wraps but whispers suggest it’s going to be 800 horsepower. That’s a big jump from the LFA’s 552 horsepower V10 and the LC500’s 471 horsepower V8.

Inside the LFR’s cockpit is starting to show its face. A sneak peek from Goodwood reveals a setup that includes luxury leather, carbon fibre touches and a layout that screams “driver’s car”. Unlike the stripped out GR GT3 race car the road going LFR keeps some comfort but is laser focused on performance. Picture digital screens, a yoke style steering wheel and just enough tech to feel futuristic without losing that raw, analogue vibe.

Goodwood was more than a show off for Lexus – it was a battle cry. The LFR cruised the hillclimb alongside its race ready sibling, both prototypes hinting at the fire to come. The road car’s design is still half hidden but rocks the GR GT3’s sharp lines and low stance. With a long bonnet, wide footprint and a rear wing that means business, it’s definitely got the supercar looks.
Compared to rivals like the Aston Martin Vantage or Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S it’s going to pack a harder punch while keeping that Lexus polish. The LFR is still in development with a launch expected in 2026, especially after seeing it at Nürburgring testing last fall. A fixed side window and big wing could mean a track version is coming, possibly even a Nürburgring variant similar to the LFA.
