Lucid Air

Set to take on the Tesla Model S in 2018, the Lucid Air boasts a fully electric drivetrain, with electric motors sitting at each axle, producing a combined 1,000-horsepower in an all-wheel drive configuration. It also sports a 100 kilowatt-hour battery, which rests in the floor, offering enough power for up to 300-miles of continuous driving. At full power, you can expect a 0-60 mph in a blistering 2.5-seconds. Interested parties can pre-order one for $2,500 now, but anyone interested in a special fully-optioned “Launch Edition” (first 255) will be required to plop down $25,500. “For self-driving, the Air includes six radar modules, eight cameras and four LIDAR sensors, all letting it detect obstacles and other traffic. A dashboard display shows drivers what the car detects, inspiring confidence in its self-driving ability. At launch, full self-driving capability will be dependent on the legal landscape, but it might have specific features, such as adaptive cruise control and the ability to change lanes on its own,” according to CNET.
