Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Snake Eater Gameplay Konami
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater set the bar sky-high for video games over two decades ago. Now, its remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is ready to hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on August 28, 2025. Built fresh from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5, this version nails the feel of the original while tossing in some modern flair.

Stealth is still the heart and soul of Metal Gear Solid Delta. You slip back into Naked Snake’s boots, sneaking through the thick Soviet jungles of the 1960s to take down a rogue operation. Konami’s cranked up the enemy AI, so guards now pick up on little things like muddy footsteps or rustling leaves. Snake’s moves, from slinking through bushes to tackling foes up close, feel smoother and meatier. The iconic camouflage system’s back with a cool tweak: you can swap camo patterns on the fly with the D-pad, keeping things strategic but way less clunky.

Visually, this remake is a total knockout. Unreal Engine 5 spins up jungles so lush you can practically feel them—swaying grass, sunlight speckling through trees, and weather that changes the whole game. Rain might blur your view but cover your steps, giving you new ways to play smart. Snake and the fearsome Cobra Unit look incredible, with detailed faces and smooth animations that make the cinematic cutscenes pop. Konami’s 3D audio pulls you in deeper, letting you hear every whisper of enemy chatter or the faint buzz of a chopper in the distance.

Konami’s also throwing in a wild new multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt. It’s not a reboot of the beloved Metal Gear Online but something fresh—a “hide-and-seek on steroids” that’s all about stealth and blending in. Details are thin, but early peeks show players using camo tech to melt into the scenery, setting up a sneaky cat-and-mouse chase that rewards brains over brawn. Director Yu Sahara says Fox Hunt is a whole new flavor for Metal Gear multiplayer.

For some extra fun, the remake brings back mini-games with a twist. PlayStation 5 and PC players get the fan-favorite Snake vs. Monkey, pitting Snake against the cheeky apes from Sony’s Ape Escape. Xbox players score Snake vs. Bomberman, swapping monkeys for Konami’s bomb-chucking icon. These goofy side missions, plus collectible Secret Theater videos hidden in-game, keep the original’s quirky charm alive.
