Overview

For a set of headphones that is 100% machine washable — thanks to a proprietary waterproof sealed housing — and can be taken anywhere, $179.95 is most certainly a bargain. Nonetheless, comfort was most certainly not sacrificed, offering wearers a secure in-ear clip design. Inside the box, you’ll find the Immersion iSport headphones, a protective clasp pouch, and four pairs of SportClips / Eartips in a variety of sizes.

Once plugged into our iPhone 4, we noticed that the sound quality exceeded our expectations, especially for a high-performance sport model. Monster went to extreme lengths to ensure that no corners were cut, adding 24K gold-plated contacts, Magnetic Flux Tube Technology (found in their best speaker cables), and MicroStrand conductors into each pair. Whether it be the gym, a long hike, or just walking around the house, these headphones never became loose or uncomfortable during our test. The integrated ControlTalk on-cable microphone allowed us to make hands-free calls.

It’s the little things that count, and we noticed many small details that added to the value including: flat tangle-free cables, a secure L-shaped headphone plug, and a handy detachable shirt clip. Overall, we highly recommend the Monster iSport Immersion and have not yet tested another pair of in-ear headphones that can compete with its sound quality and ruggedness. Product page.
