Motorola Signature 27 Boasts Qualcomm’s Newest Chip and a 200MP Periscope on a US Flagship

Motorola used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on September 22, 2026, to introduce the Signature 27, the second phone in this premium line and the first to take its name from the last two digits of the coming year. Company materials call it the most advanced handset Motorola has built, pairing the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto, Audio by Bang & Olufsen, and a cooling stack meant to keep that silicon from cooking itself during long AI, game, and video sessions. The phone is expected in markets worldwide later in 2026, including the United States, which sat out the first Signature.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the big story. Motorola is one of the first to use it, and the Extra Extreme edition adds more processing power to the standard Elite Gen 6 package, including more AI, graphics, video, and system power. Six antennas work together to get you downloading quicker and cloud AI up and running straight away. On-device AI is the pitch: Google Gemini can move from a prompt to an action across everyday apps, Gemini Omni can turn a prompt, photos, or existing clips into a finished video, and Lyria can write original music and custom soundtracks. Software starts on Android 17 with seven major OS upgrades and up to seven years of security patches from the global launch date, matching the long support windows Samsung and Google already advertise. Support can still vary by market and carrier.

The cameras are housed in a nice piece of hardware finished in very smooth ceramic and brushed aluminum, and the confirmed spec list includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor for color and contrast, as well as a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto that can handle distant buildings, landscapes, and people in the front row, in part because it is just a nice big lens for seeing what’s far away. Really, the four-lens setup sounds a lot like a Samsung Ultra set, but Motorola has just named these two sensors off the top of their head thus far. For content creators, there is a new Video Enhancement Engine that “looks at the scene” before you start recording, adjusting contrast in real time so that when you push record, you get a nice smooth turnout.


Heat, or how to avoid burning yourself, is the most important story in hardware. ArcticMesh incorporates diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a revised 3D vapor chamber, as well as a slew of new heat-management technologies. The claimed improvement over the previous Signature generation is 40%. The idea is to keep the phone running at full speed for AI activities, games, and those very long films you need to make, rather than slowing down after a short time. Bass notes are also handled by the first Motorola speakers to be tuned by Audio by B&O, as part of a new partnership with Bang & Olufsen. And they say the end result is sound that you can feel as well as hear, and that sound will extend beyond this phone and into other goods in the future.

This one is pretty much the same as before: slim, aluminum, with curved edges and two Pantone finishes. Coal smoke in Tactical Weave draws influence from performance wear, particularly the design of automotive parts, and incorporates grip and woven texture, while Capulet Olive has a beautiful, brushed, textile-like surface. You know what we don’t know yet? Display size, peak brightness, battery capacity, and charging rates. The previous Signature phone we know of had a 6.8″ 165Hz AMOLED screen, a 5,200mah battery pack, 90W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging, which is the closest we have to any figures so far. In Europe, the 512 GB model costs 999 euros, or roughly $1,170 with taxes, and it’s unclear what the new one will cost.
