NASA recently posted a series of photographs showing astronauts enjoying a pizza party aboard the International Space Station (ISS). That’s right, despite the astronauts orbiting approximately 250-miles (402 kilometers) above us, they still enjoy some of their favorite traditions right here on Earth.
The crew members can choose from around 200 different items for their standard menu, all of which has been tested, prepared, and packaged by the Space Food Systems Laboratory at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Some of the astronauts seen in these images include Denis Matveev, Oleg Artemyev, Sergey Korsakov, Kjell Lindgren, Jessica Watkins and Samantha Cristoforetti. What was the most challenging part of pizza night? Prepping the ingredients, as they had to velcro all of the toppings to the table. This is almost as impressive as Yusaku Maezawa’s Uber Eats delivery to the ISS.
