NASA RS-25 Rocket

NASA is exploring manned missions to Mars, and the RS-25, in the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket system, will be what they use to get there. Their most recent tests had engineers fire the engine for 500-seconds to inspect the flight controller as the engine burned in place. The SLS will be powered by a total of four RS-25 engines, combined with solid rocket boosters, to produce 8-million pounds of thrust to propel the Orion spacecraft skyward.
