Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Light Purple Light Green New Color Controllers
This week, Nintendo quietly launched the first batch of new color options for the Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 controllers, giving players more alternatives. A Light Purple left Joy-Con paired with a Light Green right one creates a wonderful contrast to the conventional light blue and light red combo that comes with the console.

These new controllers retain the same black outside shell design we saw on launch day, but the bright color begins to show on the interior, such as the rails that run into the console and the spherical analog sticks. When you take the Joy-Cons out for a multiplayer session or play on a table, you’ll notice a pastel effect with gentle, calming colors like violet and teal.

When you link the Joy-Cons to the Switch 2 for handheld gaming, the color is slightly lost. A few faint strips of colour appear along the margins, and the stick rings provide a wonderful little hint as to what’s going on. When you dock them and play on the TV, the color is almost completely hidden behind the grip accessory; they chose a style that keeps the entire thing looking uniform and streamlined. It looks that they chose to keep the black frame in good condition over making a big statement.

They still do everything the launch models do, though; each controller includes the new HD Rumble 2 vibration, those incredibly precise motion sensors, a C button for rapid access to GameChat audio and video features, and an optical mouse in games that support it. There are no actual hardware modifications; it’s just the same old controllers in a few different colours.

Those colors will be available for purchase on February 12th, 2026, just in time for the release of Mario Tennis Fever. A pair of these costs $99.99 in the United States, which is the same price as a standard pair if the colors are not available. Pre-orders opened immediately through Nintendo’s online store, with some regions reporting quick sell-outs in early hours.
