The Technophone PC105 is claimed to be the world’s first pocket-sized cell phone and was released in 1985. Initial design work started back in 1983, but real development didn’t start until 1985 led by Technophone founder Nils Martensson. It took several years to refine since the components had to designed from scratch to ensure the most compact final form.
Carnegie Mellon University researchers at the School of Computer Science (SCS) have developed RobotSweater, an innovative fabric system that lets robots feel and react to human touch. This machine-knitted textile “skin” was designed to be used in an industrial setting where safety is key, consisting of two layers of conductive yarn made with metallic fibers to conduct electricity.
An Asiana Airlines passenger somehow managed to open an emergency exit door mid-flight as the Airbus A321 was traveling from Jeju Island to Daegu, South Korea. Fortunately, the plane landed safely with 200 people aboard without any serious injuries. The suspect has not yet revealed the reason for opening the door, although it has been confirmed that he or she was not intoxicated.

During Investor Day 2023, a pre-production beta was on display for attendees to observe and at least one person captured photos of the Tesla Cybertruck interior. Some of the new features that stand out include a new steering wheel that is neither yoke or round, a larger center console, and a clear look at the infotainment screen.
The 2024 Aston Martin DB12 is claimed to be the world’s first Super Tourer and aims to set the benchmark for performance, ultra luxury as well as style. It’s powered by a hand-built, twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine generating 661 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a shortened Final Drive Ratio (3.083:1), enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in a 3.6-seconds, while topping out at 202 mph.
Virgin Galactic’s Unity 25 mission successfully launched from Spaceport America in New Mexico with six employees onboard for the short journey to the edge of space. VMS Eve, the carrier aircraft, launched at 11:15 a.m. ET, transporting the company’s VSS Unity spacecraft up to an altitude of about 44,500 feet.
Bungie’s Marathon is a PvP sci-fi extraction shooter and their first completely new project in over a decade. It’s currently in development for the Xbox Series S | X, PlayStation 5 and PC platforms with will cross save as well as cross play compatibility. A teaser trailer gives us a first glimpse at the player characters known in game as ‘Runners’.

BOE debuted the world’s first 110-inch 16K TV at Display Week 2023 in Los Angeles. HDTVTest’s Vincent Teoh got up-close with the display and found that it boasts 33.2 million pixels, which is around 16-times more than a standard 4K panel, but at 60Hz. However, it’s still far smaller than LG’s 272-inch Magnit Micro LED 8K display.
