Iceland-based photographer Julian Ratel has seen the many ice cave images floating around on the internet, but he wanted to experience their majesty in real-life. He finally got the chance to go this winter into the south Iceland area of the Vatnajokull glacier, and he brought along a “real specialist of this kind of environment” as well. Ratel adds: “Ice cave…Since I live in Iceland, these two words resound in my mind. I’ve seen the majestic glaciers, volcanoes and all the other wonders of Iceland. I went down inside a volcano, I flew over a live eruption but the ice caves kept attracting me with what I was seeing on the web!”
