Spanning 26.4-miles and built at a cost of $8.72-billion USD, the Qingdao Haiwan Bridge in China is now the world’s longest. In addition to connecting Qingdao to Hungdao, “Chinese officials claim the bridge can withstand the impact of a 300,000 ton vessel, typhoons, and even a magnitude eight earthquake.” Click here for more pictures.

The three-way Qingdao Haiwan Bridge is a staggering 174 times longer than London’s Tower Bridge, over the Thames River – and shaves 19 miles off the drive from Qingdao to Huangdao.
