A gamer who goes by DooMero online teased a Resident Evil 4 remake that reimagines the game as a 2D shooter, all made possible by the GZDoom engine. This mod of sorts has been in development for the past seven years and it should be complete by the end of 2023 if it does not hit any other snags, such as a cease and desist from Capcom.
Now most people might be wondering what GZDoom actually is, and the best answer would be a simple source port of the original on OpenGL that was designed to make it run better on modern PCs. However, this version lets programmers change things around, or even create all-new games like DooMero’s RE4 Remake in 2D. To swap out characters and what not, you’ll need something like ZScript, which enables you to craete classes, structs and custom functionality for use in ZDoom.
