Forty years after Optimus Prime met his end on the big screen, Robosen has built a machine that freezes that exact moment in metal, plastic, and motion. This limited Flagship model arrives finished in worn gray and black, complete with burns, bullet holes, cracks, and scratches that look like they came straight from the final fight in The Transformers: The Movie.
Standing nearly 19 inches tall as a robot and weighing 6 pounds, this figure commands attention on every shelf it occupies. In truck mode, it stretches just over 14 inches long, and the extra length gives it a more substantial feel. The paint job on the robot is, to put it mildly, a little worn, but that’s by design, as the look is intended to remain consistent whether the robot is standing tall or rolling around.

The transformation process and each pose are powered by 27 servo motors, and the presence of 92 microchips is significant. These tiny chips serve to ensure that the robot’s actions are smooth and that it can walk without falling over, whether it’s taking a stroll or standing firm in combat. Give it a command to talk, and it responds in Peter Cullen’s original voice, combining more than 200 authentic lines from the past, as well as a slew of new dialogue recorded specifically for this edition. That’s not all; with 49 voice commands at your disposal, you can convert it, make it attack, greet it, or even use some of the signature lines that fans are still quoting years later.
An accompanying app turns your smartphone into a makeshift control pad, allowing you to maneuver the robot or steer the vehicle with the joystick. There’s also a Mini Theatre option, which allows you to set up some short battle sequences and have some fun. If you also have the Flagship Megatron or Bumblebee, you can sync the three robots together so they move and converse in perfect sync. If you’re feeling creative, you can create your own bespoke sequences on the computer using Robosen’s studio software and then publish them on the company’s hub.
The special commemorative box includes some extra goodies that are only available with this release, such as a copy of the Matrix of Leadership that fits neatly into the robot’s hand, a signature ash-gray finished weapon, a collector’s coin to commemorate the occasion, and a display base that allows you to pose the figure in its fallen stance. The package artwork is also a wonderful touch, as it was copied directly from the 1986 movie poster.
There are just a thousand of these units headed for North America, so this one will be a unique find. Pre-orders commenced on July 25th at the early price of $999 and will remain open until August 25th. Following then, the price rises to $1,399. Shipping is planned to begin in December 2026, with units sent out in the sequence in which they were reserved.
