Samsung engineers sifted through over 10 billion LED units to develop a cutting-edge surface mount technology that would enable them to precisely position 24 million microLEDs, each slimmer than a human hair, on a panel. This feat was achieved by using the company’s semiconductor expertise, which helped narrow the edge of the modules to create a seamless screen of any size.

What are microLEDs? In a nutshell, they refer to LEDs that measure less than than 50㎛ capable of producing their own light and color without the need for backlights or color filters. What you end up with is a brighter, sharper display that offers a lifelike view of the world with unmatched precision. Samsung is planning to launch of microLED screens that range from 76″ to 114″ later this year.
