The Samsung Sensor OLED Display may look normal at first, but it contains cutting edge sensing technology that can identify both fingerprints on a screen as well as monitor cardio vascular health. To achieve this, Samsung Display embedded an organic photodiode (OPD), which is a light sensor, directly into the panel itself during the OLED manufacturing process.
By embedding the OPD into the OLED display, it can detect fingerprints and blood pressure readings across the entire screen. That’s not all, the OPD-embedded panel is also capable of measuring the user’s heart rate, blood pressure, and stress level at the touch of a finger, thanks to the reflective properties of OLED light, which varies depending on the contraction and relaxation of the blood vessels within the finger.

When the light returns to the panel, the OPD identifies and converts it into valuable health information. In particular, for accurate blood pressure measurement, readings are typically gauged on both arms,” said the company.
