Liuyang, located in China’s Hunan Province, is unofficially known as the hometown of fireworks, and rightfully so. On the night of December 7, the city used hundreds of drones to put on an incredible ‘Sky Gate’ fireworks show.
Drones appear to be ascending in formation, like stars, blending traditional fireworks with modern quadcopter technology. This resulted in a unique visual display, spotlighting Liuyang’s allure and innovation, while also appearing to be a portal to another world, or so we’d like to think. Just like other drone shows, this one was also pre-programmed with specific flight paths and light patterns, allowing the drones to fly in synchronized formations to create complex visual displays in the sky.
