Skydio 2 Dock
Skydio 2 is an autonomous drone that pretty much only lacked one feature, the ability to recharge itself, that is until now. In other words, you won’t have to manually place this drone on a charging dock after 20-30 minutes of flight time, but instead, you’ll be able to survey a disaster zone continuously indefinitely until something goes wrong with the drone itself, and it doesn’t require GPS to find its way back. Read more for a video showing just how this charging dock would work.

The drone will utilize its visual and inertial navigation systems to land precisely on the charging pad, which has been equipped with visual markers on top. Encounter inclement weather? As long as you’re not trying to fly into a hurricane, it should be able to land even with a 25 mph gust of wind blowing. The weatherproof box doubles as a drone box for secure transport, and it works as carry-on luggage to boot. The box can be plugged into a standard AC outlet, or into 12V DC power for SUV / truck mounting. It’s set to launch next year to select customers.
