Skydio 2 Autonomous Drone
Drones can be picked up for less than the cost of game consoles, but the cutting edge of technology still comes at a hefty price. If you want a drone that is not only autonomous, but can track up to 10 people simultaneously, all the while traveling at 30mph, you’ll need to shell out $999 for the all-new Skydio 2. This drone features NVIDIA Tegra X2-based AI processing that tracks moving subjects, complete with omni-directional awareness of its environment. It can pilot itself in any direction, avoid obstacles, predict its future path, and squeeze through tiny gaps, thanks to six cameras that can see in all directions. The drone uses the data from these cameras to build a moving 3D map of its surroundings. Or, you can pilot it yourself with the optional controller or your smartphone. An optional beacon allows the Skydio 2 track you via GPS when you’re not visible, so should a rock or tree be in your way, it’ll still be able to follow.

The Skydio 2 weighs just 1.7-pounds with the battery, which is good for 23 minutes when fully charged, and ca reach a top speed of 36 mph in both autonomous and manual flight. It starts shipping in November, and the optional controller as well as beacon will set you back $149 a piece.
