Sonic Unleashed was first released in 2008 and known for its two distinct styles of gameplay: daytime stages that incorporate Sonic’s traditional platforming and trademark speed, while night-time stages see him transform into the Werehog. Fast forward to 2025, a group of fans has just released an unofficial PC port.
This port features several enhancements including an unlocked frame rate, ultra wide monitor support, Alpha to Coverage Anti-Aliasing support, and an improved Motion Blur option. It was created through the process of static recompilation, which means the team converted the game’s original PowerPC code and Xenos shaders into compatible C++ as well as HLSL code, respectively. To play this on your Windows or Linux PC, you’ll need an official copy of the Xbox 360 game. You can download it here now.

This is genuinely a huge moment for Sonic fan projects. We now have an incredible native port of an incredible 17 year old game. Sonic Unleashed is the game that made me a Sonic fan and now I get to experience it in native HD 60fps with mod support. I’m really thankful for this,” said one commenter.
