Finally, after months of leaks, the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro has been announced, and it’s slated for release on November 7. Upgrades start with a new GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory, resulting in 45% faster rendering for gameplay.
The console also features even more powerful ray tracing capable of more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This upgrade allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution is a new AI-driven upscaling technology that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an immense amount of detail. At $699.99 USD, the PS5 Pro includes the console itself, a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a pre-installed copy of Astro’s Playroom.
