The Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Player just hit stores this week and Jacob R has already opened up the handheld console to show exactly what’s inside. From a technical perspective, none of the hardware stands out,as it has a standard 8-inch LCD screen as well as all of the buttons and features of a DualSense controller.
One big issue that users will face is trying to replace the battery, as gaining access to the area requires removing the entire screen. The problem with removing the screen is the type of glue used to hold it down, but the biggest issue has to be the underpowered CPU. In other words, trying to run any homebrew or emulation software may not work as planned. For a purely PS Remote Play device, PlayStation Portal serves its purpose just fine.
