With the PlayStation 5 console still in short supply, its successor probably isn’t on your mind. Industrial designer Junwoo Kin and his colleagues at LFiD came up with an interesting PlayStation 6 concept that show what it could, but probably won’t, look like.

Sony typically updates the PlayStation every 6-7 years, as the PS4 debuted in 2013 and the PS5 during 2020, so the earliest you should expect a PS6 would be 2026. What would we like to see in the PlayStation 6? Built-in Bluetooth audio support, wireless charging for the controller / headset, and possibly a a combined video / power cord to declutter things.

Indeed, in the past, the cycle for a new platform was seven to 10 years, but in view of the very rapid development and evolution of technology, it’s really a six to seven-year platform cycle. Then we cannot fully catch up with the rapid development of the technology, therefore our thinking is that as far as a platform is concerned for the PS5…we should be able to change the hardware itself and try to incorporate advancements in technology,” said Masayasu Ito, Ex Sony Interactive Entertainment Deputy President.
