Sound Extinguish Flames Fire
You’ve seen the flamethrower-equipped robot dog, now check out what happens when you use sound to extinguish flames. James Orgill of The Action Lab first attempted to use a 70Hz tone to extinguish an alcohol flame, but that proved futile.

Next, he tried out the speaker’s bass reflex port in the rear, which was an improvement, but it took an air vortex cannon focusing its sound waves to really put out the fire. He also tried out a box fan that and discovered that oscillated the sound waves, resulting in air pressure fluctuations. Put simply, the box fan directs the oxygen-rich air into the flame, making the fire even stronger.
