With Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith returning to US movie theaters on April 25, it’s only fitting that a new game gets announced today. Star Wars Zero Company is basically a single-player, turn-based tactics game developed by Bit Reactor, in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, set to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The game takes place near the end of the Clone Wars (around 20-19 BBY, after the Battle of Umbara). You play as Hawks, a former Republic officer who leads Zero Company, a top-notch team of mercenaries from all over the galaxy. The story is tough and new, showing the Clone Wars from the ground level, different from the usual Jedi-focused stories. Your team faces a new danger that could swallow the galaxy, with missions on both familiar and brand-new planets.

It has tactical combat like XCOM but with a Star Wars spin. You control a squad you can customize in turn-based fights, making smart choices that really matter, including the option for squad members to die for good if you choose. Between missions, you run a base, collect info through a network of tipsters, and improve your team. The game keeps things easy to pick up but full of depth, with your choices shaping the story and what happens. You can switch out squad members, build friendships for better teamwork in fights, and tweak Hawks’ look and role (you can even be an astromech droid!).

Zero Company is ragtag crew of original characters, like a Tognath Jedi, a Mandalorian, a former Clone Trooper, an R5 astromech droid, and others, including a sniper in armored gear. The team’s variety (different species and classes) gives you lots of ways to play, and chats at a hub called The Den make the team feel more real.

Unlike fast-paced Pod Racer or Jedi games, Zero Company gives a thoughtful, character-focused take on the Clone Wars, a time fans love from The Clone Wars show. Its focus on new faces and a less-seen angle (mercenaries, not Jedi) feels different, especially if you enjoy digging into Star Wars stories.
Our vision for Star Wars Zero Company is grounded in gameplay design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Wars galaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay. It’s our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation,” said Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor.
