If the new Super Mario Bros movie used N64-era graphics, this is probably what it would look like, or at least according to King Bob Gaming. Nintendo could have made this a reality in 1996 if they decided to just use the Super Mario 64 game engine and create a full-length animated movie, as its 3D character models were most certainly ahead of their time.
Speaking of Super Mario 64, did you know that director Shigeru Miyamoto came up with the idea for a 3D Super Mario game during the production of Star Fox (1993)? That’s right, the development of this iconic Mario title lasted nearly three years, starting with the innovative virtual camera system. Once that was completed, the team continued forth with illustrating the 3D character models, while the sound effects were recorded by Yoji Inagaki and score composed by Koji Kondo.
