Super Mario Eclipse may look familiar to some, and that is because this fan-made game is a sequel to Super Mario Sunshine. The current demo includes 37 individual Shinesprites to collect, 60 blue coins, an original soundtrack, and 3 unique playable characters.
Super Mario Sunshine, released in 2002 on the Nintendo GameCube, took place on the tropical Isle Delfino, where Mario, Toadsworth, Princess Peach, and five Toads are taking a vacation. Mario has to clean up Isle Delfino using a device called the Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device (F.L.U.D.D.), while saving Princess Peach from Shadow Mario. This sequel not only offers an improved game engine, but also 4 original main courses to explore, 2 level ports including Starshine Beach from Solarshine, and revamped movement mechanics. Playing through the entirety of this game has been a real blast. Never before have I seen a mod that revamps so much of the original game, to the point where it feels like it’s not even Super Mario Sunshine anymore, but rather a game using its engine. And just to think that this is still a DEMO of all things,” said one commenter.
