You’ve seen the PS2 Pro, now check out Tito of Macho Nacho Productions’ PlayStation Phantom handheld console. Think of this device, based on the Takara Roulette game controller, as the unofficial PSP predecessor.
Powering this handheld is a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 and a custom PCB, which is more than powerful enough to handle PlayStation 1 games. Other features include a 2.4″ Waveshare LCD screen, 2 x 300mAh Li-ion batteries. Assembling everything required trimming the shell and then lots of soldering. Still want to build your own? I think swapping the speaker and battery could have been the ticket especially with the high quality small speakers that are out there. Also you could probably down clock the CPU in the Raspberry Pi since it’s overpowered for PS1 and squeezed more playtime out of a 1000 – 1200mAh battery sitting where the speaker now lives. That being said, you all did a great job designing this thing,” said one commenter.
