Elon Musk shared a video of Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot folding a shirt yesterday and teases it may be capable of as an assistant inside your home. As previously mentioned, it reportedly features the same AI system Tesla is developing for the advanced driver-assistance system used in its vehicles.
The production model is alleged to have a carrying capacity of 45 lb (20 kg) and eventually Optimus should be able to handle dangerous, repetitive and boring tasks like providing manufacturing assistance. Optimus Generation 2 is currently capable of walking, dancing, poaching an egg, and now, folding shirts. However, it may still be a few generations away from full autonomous operation.
