Greg Coulthard created a The Elders V: Skyrim remake in Unreal Engine 5 that doesn’t really change how it looks, as his goal was to develop a C++ plugin to read the game’s ESM data file to automatize landscape generation and object placement.
What good is an Unreal Engine 5 remake that doesn’t offer cutting edge graphics? Well, the plugin Coulthard developed will make it infinitely easier for other developers to create UE5 remakes, like Fallout New Vegas and Starfield, with upgraded graphics. One caveat: the assets still need to be imported manually in this version of the plugin. Those wanting to try the demo can get it directly from Greg Coulthard’s Discord channel.

I think people expected GTA 6 level graphics (to be fair, I did as well) and because of that they now fail to see how this still looks way better than vanilla Skyrim. Textures look sharper, the water in particular looks great, the lighting is much more natural, and the LOD is probably the biggest difference,” said one commenter.
