Set to hit theaters on December 22, 2021, “The Matrix Resurrections” is the fourth installment in the film series, and from the newly released trailer, it definitely has more than a few surprises up its sleeve. Not only does Keanu Reeves return, but Carrie-Anne Moss as well, portraying Neo and Trinity respectively, in an expansion of their story that takes both characters back into the Matrix. Other returning characters include Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, Daniel Bernhardt reprising his role as Agent Johnson from The Matrix Reloaded, and Lambert Wilson returns as the trafficker of information, the Merovingian, from both Reloaded as well as The Matrix Revolutions. Two characters that may or may not make surprise cameos are Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith, and Laurence Fishburne’s Morpheus.
