Automotive personality Doug DeMuro recently got the chance to check out the Lo Res Car, and while it may look like something from the new Matrix Resurrections movie, it’s a real functional vehicle. From afar, it appears to be a hovering space object, but its designer, Rem D. Koolhaas, actually drew inspiration from the original Lamborghini Countach.
How is this anything like the Lamborghini Countach you ask? Well, Koolhaus first 3-D scaned a miniature scale model of the Lamborghini Countach and then manually manipulated the image, effectively lowering its resolution several times over until the legendary supercar’s defining curves and lines all but disappeared. Two caveats: there are no doors, but rather a polycarbonate canopy that hinges up to seat up to two passengers, and the second being its electric powertrain, good for up to just 30 mph.
