The Morning Machine Smart Coffee
Nespresso machines attempt to make instant coffee taste like what you’d get from a real cafe, but let’s face it, most would agree that the taste does not even come close. Introducing The Morning Machine. This smart coffee maker is compatible with Nespresso OriginalLine capsules and uses its built-in scale to control the brew with weight instead of volume. It also uses thermal sensors work and a PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controller to let you adjust temperatures perfectly to your preference, depending on the type of coffee you’re brewing. One other key feature you’ll find is the Intermittent Wave Brewing System, which is used to control pressure and affects the coffee’s Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), thus letting you explore how pressure can affect your coffee’s taste. There’s a companion Morning smartphone app that lets you create your own custom pressure profiles as well as an OLED dial interface one the machine itself. More information here.

There has been a shift in coffee brewing with the use of scales. Compared to simply relying on volumetric measurements (from a flow meter), scales provide you with accuracy, which leads to repeatability and room for experimentation. Instead of simply eyeballing the liquid espresso and crema, a scale provides weight-based brewing, where the output is instantly measured and displayed. This allows you to brew to more consistent-tasting cups of coffee,” said its creator.
