The Simpspons ‘Treehouse of Horror XXXIII’ is set to air this Sunday on FOX and unlike previous years, this one includes ‘Death Tome’, an anime-inspired Death Note parody. This anime series follows a boy named Light Yagami, who is being played by Lisa in this episode, that stumbles upon a supernatural book capable of killing anyone whose name is written in its pages.
Not just any book, the person writing the name must also know both the victim’s name and face. Light is guided by a dark spirit named Ryuk, who also gets a Simpsons makeover, while Homer, Marge and Mr. Burns now resemble anime characters. If FOX decides to release a followup in next year’s ‘Treehouse of Horror’, the animators could build upon the short by focusing on Light’s subsequent attempts to use the Death Note to carry out a hit list of individuals deemed immoral and to create a crime-free society.
