Photographer Benjamin Von Wong’s latest series may look fake, but a model / freediver was actually secured underwater with sharks swimming around her. This all took place in Fiji in several 2-hour windows between the hours of 11-1pm, in which the sharks would be active and to achieve optimal lighting with sun rays piercing the water. “Once one of them got deep enough into the cave and we thought there was a good chance of us capturing a shot, Amber would take a deep breath, rip off her mask and strike a couple of poses for as long as she could. As a photographer looking to create meaningful work, this was the perfect opportunity for me to create a series of images that would promote beauty while advocating for their protection,” said Von Wong.
