The TWA terminal at New York’s JFK Airport is currently being transformed into a luxurious 5-star botique hotel. The original terminal was designed by Eero Saarine, while the interior was all custom-built by Midcentury Modern visionaries like Raymond Loewy, Warren Platner, and Charles Eames. Now, a group of developers plan on building two adjacent buildings consisting of 505 rooms for guests, eight restaurants, and a Mid-century design museum. “MCR Development has confirmed through a spokesperson to Conde Nast Traveler that the project is on target for a full hotel opening in the fall of 2018. That means 505 guest rooms and a slew of services will be available for travelers, even if they aren’t staying there: think six to eight retro bars and restaurants in a restored main terminal; an aviation-themed exhibit space, 40,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces, and a 10,000-square-foot public observation deck,” according to CN Traveler.
