Underwater Fortress Turkey

Not only is Lake Van the largest lake in Turkey, but archaeologists from Van Yuzuncu Yil University and a team of divers have just discovered an underwater fortress beneath it. The people of Urartu built the castle approximately 3,000 years ago during the Iron Age, and constructed when the lake’s water level was hundreds of meters lower.
