File this under: creepy spiders. It’s not everyday that you see thousands of spiders crawling in the skies of Brazil, but that’s exactly what 20-year-old web designer Erick Reis saw when he left a friend’s house this past Sunday. Continue reading for the video and more information.

That’s right, these large spiders were spotted hanging from power lines crawling around on an expansive network of silk strands spun over the town of Santo Antonio da Platina. According to Leticia Aviles, a researcher who studies social spiders at the University of British Columbia: “The phenomenon observed is not really surprising. Either social or colonial spiders may occur in large aggregations, as the one shown in the video.”
