The Volkswagen ID.2all electric hatchback has just been revealed, beating Elon Musk’s Tesla Model 2 to the punch. Priced from $26,500 USD, it comes equipped with a single electric motor producing 223 hp, enabling the vehicle to hit 60mph in under 7-seconds, complete with a 280-mile range. It’s based on Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB), currently used on the ID.3 as well as the ID.Buzz.
Inside, you’ll find a 10.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment display with classic volume control as well as a separate air conditioning block. Don’t let its size fool you, as there is ample storage volume, or around 490–1,330 liters, which exceeds that of higher vehicle classes. Available in Europe some time during 2025, with no word yet on a North American release.
