
Moto Guzzi’s “Autoveicolo Da Montagna” (Mountain Car in Italian), a 3-wheeled motorcycle with tracks, may not have the latest and greatest technologies, but it can definitely handle any terrain. It was designed for the Italian Army, and employs a full-time 3WD, paired with a 6-speed transmission, to help it live up to its “mechanical mule” nickname. Click here to view more pictures. “It used a chain-driven front wheel and rear caterpillars that could be adjusted to the terrain. Crafting a vehicle that could carry enough weight – it carries 1,100 pounds – while still being able to traverse steep mountain roads was a tough feat to accomplish, but this mechanical mule did the trick,” reports Hi Consumption.
