Worlds Darkest Photo Backdrop Musou Black Fabric
H/t: Peta Pixel
Photographer Mathieu Stern wanted to create the world’s darkest photo backdrop and there was only one material up for the task: the KoPro Musuo Black Fabric Kiwami. This material absorbs 99.905% of visible light, similar to VantaBlack, which most have seen or heard of. Since this was for a photography experiment, KoPro was kind enough to send Stern special version of the fabric that absorbs even more infrared light.

There are countless uses for this kind of backdrop in photography, whether it be for portraits or product shots, but even so, excellent lighting is required to take full advantage of this material. KoPro’s Musou Black Fabric reflects almost no light, so you get extreme contrast, thus reducing the amount of post-editing in Photoshop needed. For this particular shoot, Stern used a TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 lens on his full-spectrum camera.
