Tunnels normally require you first bore through the earth, then dig while building simultaneously using a massive boring machine similar to ones being used for the London’s new Crossrail train system. Now, the “Zipper Truck”, a tunnel-creating machine aims to change all of that. It basically utilizes a half-cylinder-shaped array of rollers atop a regular flatbed truck, enabling workers to build with the company’s Lego-like arch blocks, cutting the tedious process from weeks to just days. The wider front makes the placement of the custom blocks possible, which slide closer to fit together as the truck slowly accelerates, and the roller-lined core becomes slimmer.
