Photos found in an FCC filing might have leaked the rumored ASUS and Microsoft Xbox handheld before its planned reveal at Computex 2025 in Taipei. It’s actually a version of the ROG Ally 2, with the white model using a 4-core Ryzen processor (probably Aerith Plus) with a 20W power rating. This console looks a lot like the original ROG Ally but has a new outer design that feels more like a gaming controller, with bigger grips and two USB Type-C ports on top.
The black ROG Ally 2 Xbox Edition has a special Xbox button (with an “X” carved into it) on the upper left, hinting at closer ties to Xbox features, maybe through a specific app or overlay on Windows instead of a full Xbox system. It uses a high-end Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor (8 cores, 36W power rating) and 64GB of fast LPDDR5-8533 RAM, making it much more powerful. Both versions have a 7-inch 120Hz screen.

The design has larger grips for comfort, but the screen’s edges look similar to the original ROG Ally and Ally X. The side view shows it’s thicker, likely to fit better internals or a bigger battery. No photos showed the screen on, so it’s unclear if the display has any upgrades.

As mentioned before, the Xbox button on the black model suggests special software features, like opening the Xbox app or a custom menu for Game Pass and Microsoft Store games. It probably won’t run a full Xbox system but will work with Steam, Epic Games Store, and other PC platforms using Windows 11.

ASUS is expected to show off these handhelds at Computex 2025 (early June), and certifications in several countries suggest a launch soon after. No pricing info is confirmed, but people think the Xbox Edition will cost more because of its higher-end features.
