Mac Prius

This modder connected a Mac Mini to his Prius MFD touchscreen for the ultimate multimedia setup. Videos after the jump.
Of course nothing goes perfectly and I'm going to have to pull the mini out later. I need to check the audio connection, I'm now occationally hearing a loud squeel when I turn up the volume on the Prius. I think it's probably the the little connector I made with the electrolitic cap. I attached to make sure no stray voltages enter the Mac, it's kind of squished in the back of the Mini now

i am also planing to build in a Mac Mini to to my Mazda MX6 its way cheap to build in a mac mini than to by a Good Multimedia player for your car. building it your self will cost you around 800euro. and that includes the toutch screen. i have seen other Car PC but those where slow as hell useing crappy CPU's this looks realy cool cant wait till i get all my parts in to build it ;)

Here is a hint from a ex-car audio/video installer. The hi pitch whine you hear when you rev your engine is called alternator whine. There are quite a few alternatives to decrease this unwanted noise.

Ex-car audio installer huh? Maybe you should mail him and tell him that its not the electrolitic, or that he is passing line level audio through a relay. Nope Nope... its probably the alternator on a hybrid CAN car (high quality alt w/ lots of EMI shielding all over the car), which of course would have the same audio symptoms of say a 1982 Buick.
