Scientist Creates Robot Clone

Hiroshi Ishiguro -- "a senior researcher at ATR Intelligent Robotics and Communication Laboratories in Japan" -- has created a robot clone of himself. Lots of videos after the jump.
Created using casts of his body, his robot doppelganger sits and fidgets, looks around and taps his toe just like his creator. Ishiguro actually created this robot to, no joke, fill in for him in the classroom at Osaka University, where he's a professor

The robot looks like a drunken version of the original guy... Looks very real although we are still far away from getting it right...

How much of an egomaniac do you have to be to build a copy of yourself? If it were me, I'd build a robot of the girl that snubbed me in High School.

Но, со временем, отношение к проекту стало серьездней, появились новые возможности, которых изначально небыло в планах. Робот повторяет черты тела своего создателя, способен отображать разнообразные эмоции, такие как скука или волнение, да и в целом, мимике уделено достаточно много внимания. Робот не способен передвигаться, и находится только в сидячем положении, но он может двигать руками, оборачиваться, примитивно вращать кистевым суставом и пальцами. This is incredible, good work to that guy for making it happen. I want a pornstar version on the market, so we can all have our dreams come true.....anatomically correct of course.

im a bit worried of this robots He looks angry, mad and unhappy :(. Couldnt he just stand up and smiley at the camera, be a nice and helping robot :)
