The 2020 Audi R8 LMS GT2 was unveiled today, and it’s the most powerful customer racer yet. It’s set to compete in the inaugural GT2 class of the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine generating 630 hp, up from the factory’s 612 hp, thanks to a new beefier exhaust system. All that power is contained in a 2,976 pounds chassis, or about 220 lbs lighter than the GT4-spec variant model, giving it a weight-to-power ratio of 4.6 lbs / hp.
Other upgrades includes a wider body panels, a new front bumper, massive rear wing for extreme downforce and a roof-mounted air intake for cooling the engine during races. Audi Sport is currently accepting orders for the R8 LMS GT2 with prices starting at €338,000 (before VAT), or nearly $380,000 at current exchange rates.
