You’ve seen the unreleased GameCube LCD monitor, now here’s an extremely rare SpaceWorld Nintendo GameCube prototype console, which was recently acquired by Console Variations. Since the GameCube was not officially released until September 14, 2001, this prototype was not a functional game console, as there is just a loose PCB (CPU-DJ-X2) with no CPU or GPU installed.
There are some wires coming from the bottom, but they only power the LED up top for guests at the SpaceWorld 2000 event to see. Before Nintendo Direct, SpaceWorld was an annual video game trade show that ran from 1989 – 2001 to announce and demonstrate new consoles as well as games. In addition to the GameCube, this show saw the debuts of the Super Famicom, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and even the Super Mario 128 demo.
