Slow Mo Guys Firing Blanks 82,000 FPS
You’ve seen what vector-based arcade machines looks like when captured with a high-speed camera at 28,500 FPS, now check out the explosive power of firing blanks in ultra slow motion. A blank is essentially a firearm cartridge that does not shoot a projectile when fired, but instead generates a muzzle flash and an explosive sound similar to a normal gunshot.

If you’re interested in recreating this experiment, the Phantom TMX 7510 is one piece of equipment that most would probably not be able to afford, as it retails for over $100,000+ USD. The camera used to capture these blanks features backside-illuminated sensors and a 75-gigapixel throughput capable of shooting up to 1,750,000 FPS. It can achieve 76,000 FPS at a full 1MP resolution of 1280 x 800 or over 300,000 FPS at 1280 x 192 resolution.

With the export-controlled FAST option, TMX 7510 reaches a blistering 1.75 Million frames per second and 95 nanosecond minimum exposure time, eliminating motion blur. This enables precise motion analysis for extremely fast applications,” said Vision Research.
