Unlike other cameras, the Canon MS-500 is not only the world’s first ultra-high-sensitivity camera equipped with a 1.0-inch SPAD sensor, but it also boasts the the world’s highest pixel count. What this translates into is the ability to shoot in complete darkness, thanks to photon counting, which counts light particles (photons) that enter a pixel.
Incoming photons are essentially converted to an electric charge and then amplified to approximately one million times before being extracted as digital signals, thus making detecting even small amounts of light possible – as low as 0.001 lux. This allows you to use it for nighttime monitoring of seaports, with the ability to spot vessels that are several miles away. Its B4 bayonet lens mount is compatible with most 2/3 inch broadcast lenses. Available September 2023, priced at around $25,200 USD.

- Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC technology
- 9-Point AF system and AI Servo AF

The MS-500 also supports ‘haze compensation’ function, which reduces the effects of haze and mist. This automatically adjusts for proper contrast, and provides image correction functions that improve video quality,” said Canon.
